jabberwock

The Jabberwocky was a mythical creature in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, so called because of the many component parts which were necessary to make him an unusual and fascination creature. It was the custom of the Jabberwocky to call together the members of his kingdom once a year to present a colorful pageant. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has copyrighted the word Jabberwock, meaning a night of skits.

Delta everywhere use Jabberwock as a fund-raising activity to finance the many public services and scholarship services provided by Delta. In Wilson, proceeds from the Jabberwock help to provide educational awards to high school girls who plan to further their education after completing high school.

Jabberwock 2016: Rising With Radiance and Grace

The Wilson Alumnae Chapter is proud to announce the kick-off for our 2016 Jabberwock Scholarship Program: Rising with Radiance & Grace. Jabberwock engages young women in our community to programs centered around education, culture, and self-enrichment. We held an informational meeting on May 14 for young ladies interested in participating. If you were unable to attend, a brief overview is linked below. Jabberwock will conclude with the crowning of "Miss Jabberwock" during our Cotillion Gala and Scholarship Awards Ceremony on December 11.

Young ladies in the 5th - 12th grade are eligible to participate in the 6-month program. There are two categories with grades 5 -10 participating in the Queen's Court and grades 11 - 12 competing for the crown of Miss Jabberwock. The Queen's Court is a non-competitive group that will participate in all programs and activities including the Cotillion Gala.
