The Jabberwocky was a mythical creature in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, so called because of the many component parts which were necessary to make him an unusual and fascination creature. It was the custom of the Jabberwocky to call together the members of his kingdom once a year to present a colorful pageant. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has copyrighted the word Jabberwock, meaning a night of skits.

Delta everywhere use Jabberwock as a fund-raising activity to finance the many public services and scholarship services provided by Delta. In Wilson, proceeds from the Jabberwock help to provide educational awards to high school girls who plan to further their education after completing high school.

Jabberwock 2018: Capturing the Promise

The Wilson Alumnae Chapter is proud to present our 2018 Jabberwock Scholarship Program: Capturing the Promise. Jabberwock engages young women in our community to programs centered around education, culture, and self-enrichment. We held an informational meeting in April for young ladies interested in participating. If you were unable to attend, but would like to join us, please email us at Jabberwock@wilsonalumnae.com. Jabberwock will conclude with our Cotillion Gala and Scholarship Awards Ceremony this December.

Young ladies in Kindergarten - 12th grade are eligible to participate in the 6-month program. There are three categories with grades K-5 competing for Little Miss Jabberwock, grades 6-10 participating in the Queen's Court and grades 11-12 competing for the crown of Miss Jabberwock. The Queen's Court is the only non-competitive group, but will participate in all programs and activities including the Cotillion Gala.
